Four-time Formula 1 champion to support young talents in ADAC Formula 4

Sebastian Vettel’s career began at the ADAC High-Speed Academy

Vettel: "I’m sure I’ll eventually see some of these guys in Formula 1."

Munich. Celebrity signing for the debut season of the ADAC Formula 4, as four-time Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel becomes patron to the ADAC’s new junior open-wheel series. Vettel himself competed in one of the ADAC’s junior series early on in his career.

It didn’t seem to be the perfect day for me. I couldn’t get into the rhythm and lost positions when it mattered not to lose them for the final result. In general, I struggled a bit with the rear end and exiting the corners, which made me vulnerable to Nico’s attacks and prevented me from getting as close as I needed to Valtteri to chase him down the straight with DRS.

It is only race three and the steps we have made so far are really impressive. Third and fourth place for the Team, makes me really happy, I would have obviously loved to put more pressure on Mercedes: after the first and second stop we were able to be right there, but in the last stint they were able to pull away quite a lot. Basically we are closer than four weeks ago, which is positive, but there is still a lot to do. But what’s very positive is also the fact that we stayed ahead of all the other Teams. Second for us was not really possible today, you have to accept that our opponents were quick. For Bahrain, we hope to get again a bit closer. We have a strong car no matter which condition, that is the feeling.

In the end it is a great success for us to be able to split the Mercedes. Again, we seem to be a bit closer; but then everybody seemed to be a bit closer this weekend. So, hopefully, we can be another step closer tomorrow. In the beginning of qualifying i was not entirely happy, but then it got better and better.
