“It is fascinating to see how they are trying to preserve their land. I think there are lots of lessons and experiences to be learned from this – like living with nature. It would be a shame if that knowledge were to be lost.”

“We have been having a quite eventful day…spending time on the river to get from one village to the next. It´s been really inspiring to see how friendly and welcoming the villagers were to us.“
In October 2024, I had the honour of travelling with @greenpeacebrasil into the home region of the Kayapó people. Through this experience, I learnt more about the destruction of their land and the devastating consequences of deforestation:
• Forests destroyed
• Rivers polluted and poisoned
• Indigenous territories invaded
• Violence against Indigenous people
• Threat of disease
• Lives lost and traditions endangered
These are just some of the dangers posed by illegal mining in the Amazon. Destructive miners continue to invade Indigenous lands, leaving devastation and death in their wake — and accelerating climate change.

Respeitem a Amazônia
— Cacique Raoni Metuktire
